Online payments overview

If a restaurant wants to enable online card payments – paid service for its clients, the following two things are needed:

  • A merchant account at a payment gateway we support, for example from www.stripe.com. Every payment gateway will charge a fee per transaction, please see the website of the payment gateway for details.
  • The “Connector” which connects the payment gateway with our online ordering system. This involves a monthly fixed fee/restaurant account (there is no other transaction fee and it includes an unlimited amount of transactions).

Here is a video that shows how all this works:

The availability of this feature depends on supported merchant account providers in each country.

In this respect restaurants can choose the gateway they want from the supported list of popular gateways. We do not “touch” the credit card details nor the payment operation itself. We merely act on the technical integration between our ordering cart and the 3rd party payment gateway page/system/api/account (whichever the case may be).

Taking client’s money is a sensitive thing so we allow to use many/most popular payment gateways:  Stripe, Mercury Authorize.net, Braintree, WorldPay, First Data, Elavon, etc. (others may be added if possible and relevant).

In some countries these payment gateways do not operate yet.

If this is the case… Just go 100% free!

Apart from this, there are bank swipe devices, payment solutions based on SMS, email or phone number that may be used locally.

In many countries where online payment solutions are not available/not competitively priced, restaurants skip this altogether and work over SMS payments and mobile card swipe devices or other instruments with low commissions.

These are offsite payment method not suitable to integrate in the ordering system but others use them with some custom text in the cart (it can be bold or colored), like this:
